Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah receives a ringing endorsement from the FA to remain at post as talk of an appointment of a technical director is dismissed.

Appiah, who is closing-in on qualifying the Black Stars to a third-straight World Cup appearance has been the subject of talk in the past few days as reports have claimed that, German coach Klaus Topmoller is been sounded out for a role with the national team.

Speaking at the signing of a $1.2 million sponsorship deal with uniBank as the Official Bank of the Black Stars, Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi said such talk is not even under consideration.

“It is important to stress that the Ghana Football Association has absolute confidence in the abilities of the technical team of the Black Stars led by coach Kwesi Appiah,” Nyantakyi said on Thursday in Accra.

“We are proud of successes and will continue to support him to lead the Black Stars to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“It is therefore surprising that out of the blue, the media has conjured the story that the GFA has decided to appoint a Klaus Topmoller as technical director of the GFA. The allegation is untrue and should be treated with the comtempt it deserves.”

Nyantakyi says the entire nation should focus their energies towards the up-coming World Cup play-off against Egypt.

“Let us re-direct our energies and resources towards ensuring that we seal our qualification to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The technical team lead by coach Kwesi Appiah, the players and management of the Black Stars need your support and prayers.”
