The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed accusations from Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah that the NPP is behind the numerous strikes and recent spate of labour agitations.

According to the retired Brigadier-General, he as an intelligence chief was certain that the NPP was behind the current labour unrest.

In an interview on Adom FM Tuesday, he said “I have enough experience, working with CIA and other intelligence agencies, to say that NPP is behind these things.

“I’m experienced enough to know that these are politically motivated demonstrations. They are hiding behind others, like the Trojan horse, to destroy the nation.

The National Organizer of the NDC, Yaw Boateng Gyan on Monday also told Radio XYZ that he suspects that the numerous strike actions were being orchestrated by the NPP.

But in a reaction by the NPP, acting communications director of the party, Perry Okudzeto in an interview with Strict Proof on Tuesday dismissed the accusations adding that the NPP had no time to organize labour agitations.

He said the comment by the National Security Advisor is only making matters worse. Mr. Okudzeto added that attempts to accuse the NPP of being behind such labour agitations are an insult to the intelligence of the professional workers.

“If they [NDC] have expertise in sponsoring demonstration against political parties we [NPP] don’t have any expertise in that.

“I do not see how we [NPP] would go and organize labour to go and agitate” Perry Okudzeto said.

He added that “If government has issues they should sit down and solve them and stop making excuses”.
