Nunoo Mensah: I will only provide evidence in court

Joseph Nunoo-Mensah

The National Security Advisor (NSA), Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah (rtd) says he will only provide evidence of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) influencing the labour agitations in the country, when he is dragged to the law court to do so.

Brig. Gen. Nunoo Mensah has come under a barrage of criticisms for saying disgruntled workers should stop complaining and leave the country if they could no longer cope with the current economic situation. He also accused the opposition New Patriotic Party of being behind agitations on the labour front purposefully to distabilise the John Mahama administration.

But the NPP has denied the accusation and has called for the resignation of the two-time former Chief of Defence Staff. The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has also threatened to drag the NSA before the courts to substantiate the insulting allegations made against UTAG and other Labour Unions.

Speaking on the Joy FM Super Morning Show, Wednesday, October 23, Brig. Gen. Nunoo Mensah said he was not bothered the least by the attacks his comment had attracted.

“I don’t fear these things; I have the skin of a crocodile, it doesn’t bother me at all. If you go through my history, I’ve gone through hell and I’m still around”.

He questioned the interest of the NPP in labour issues for the leadership of the party to issue a statement calling on the president to show him the exit if he, Nunoo Mensah refuses to resign.

“What interest did they [NPP leaders] have in organized labour,” he queried.

He however, refused to state his proof of claim, that the opposition party was behind labour unrest maintaining, he would only do so when asked in a court of law.
